Some Info On Buying Your Wheel Chair Battery
Electric wheel chairs are becoming very famous these days among modern people, especially those who are not disabled by nature. They serve as the legs for many active disabled people. Those who are working, traveling around in busy streets, can not live without electric wheel chairs. And when it comes to having one, maintenance is very essential. Maintenance here does not involve the care of the wheel chair only, but also servicing it and refreshing the wheel chair battery.
Your power chair runs by the wheel chair battery, like how a car runs by the car battery. Similarly, you service the battery in your car every once a year, and so you do it here too. But buying a new battery after your old battery has gone flat is not something easy. Previously the wheel chair battery came along with the chair, so you did not have the chance to look at it. Now that you have to buy one yourself, you have to look through various aspects of buying the best battery for your chair.
What to Consider
The first thing you should think of when buying a new wheel chair battery is your usage. If you use your wheel chair for long runs, you have to get the appropriate battery that can last longer than the common ones. The last thing you want is to get stranded halfway somewhere. And at the same time, you have to ensure that this long lasting battery is not sensitive towards large energy output, meaning to say that it produces constant energy output, and not depending on the need of the wheel chair.
If you are using energy based batteries, which determines the output level according to the ruggedness of the terrains, the degree of slopes, and many other aspects, the battery will definitely run out faster, as more battery will be used to produce more power when you are climbing the slopes or moving through the hard ground. On the other hand, if you are using your wheelchair for other active purposes such as for games, work and other vigorous activities, you should seek for the power-based wheel chair battery.
Another thing to consider is the maintenance and mobility. Maintenance here refers to the lasting of the battery, and the servicing costs if anything goes wrong. Mobility refers to the space it takes on your wheel chair and how much it weighs.
