With Support Stocking Varicose Veins May Be Prevented

Heredity plays a major role in whether a person will develop varicose veins along with other causes such as pregnancy, obesity, menopause and aging. Varicose veins typically occur when the tine valves in the veins, which allow blood to only flow one way are weakened, allowing blood to flow backwards, enlarging the veins. Even with the use of a support stocking varicose veins will not disappear, but it could help slow the development of additional ones.

Some people who have developed spider veins have seen success while wearing a support stocking varicose veins has not developed. Aching and a heavy feeling in the legs may be a common symptom and if your family history includes varicose veins, a support stocking of increasing levels of pressure may be used to help the prevention of them from forming. Additionally, with use of a support stocking varicose veins often to cause as much pain and itching as in those patients who shun their use.

While mild cases of varicose veins do not normally require medical treatment, a doctor may recommend the use of surgical stockings to help with blood flow. With the use of a support stocking varicose veins are given help in moving the blood through the veins. Pull them on evenly before getting out of bed in the morning ensuring they are not too tight on the calves or groin, which may restrict blood flow as well.

Choose Right Stockings For Your Condition

Persons with greater odds of developing varicose veins can take some preventive measures during situations in which varicose veins are likely to develop. With heredity being a major factor, a person with a family history of varicose veins may want to wear a support stocking as varicose veins prevention during pregnancy, especially if they are already showing signs of developing spider veins.

Spider veins are those closer to the surface and easily visible while for those predisposed genetically to varicose veins, which occur with the deeper veins, while wearing support stocking varicose veins may not develop as quickly. Those with weight problems may find that losing weight may reduce the pressure on the veins as well.

Persons who smoke should consider quitting as smoking is known to increase blood pressure, adding to the risk of developing varicose veins. While the use of a support stocking may slow the development of varicose veins and reduce some discomfort there is no guarantee they will prevent them.
