Application of Yoga for Ulcers Management



The term 'yoga' is derived from Sanskrit language and it refers to 'union' between body, mind and spirit. Yogic practices can promote a holistic solution pertinent to a great care of overall health system. Different studies suggest that people suffering from peptic ulcers experience benefits by applying yoga for their ulcers management. Yoga is a vast area of study. There is a whole host of Asanas that may offer an effective management for ulcers, as suggested by different Yogic gurus around the world. There are different types of yogic asanas that you can practice to get alleviation from the existing complications. While applying yoga for ulcers management, you will be advised to practice yogic asanas at the first hand. The primary asanas suggested at this time are - Vajrasana, Padmasana (The Lotus Position) and Pawanamuktasana (The Knee to Chest Position).

Vajrasana

If you would like to practice Vajrasana, you need to sit by folding your legs and keeping your knees together. Put the toes close, however keep the heel apart and sit on them. You need to place your hand straight over the corresponding knees. Inhale slowly for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 1 second, and then release your breath for 8 seconds. Continue doing these steps at least for 10 times.

Padmasana

For doing Padmasana, you need to fold your legs in 'V' shape. Hold your toe and bend it to the other thigh, do the same with the other toe. If you are experiencing difficulty while doing Padmasana for the first time, you may practice Ardhapadmasana initially. To practice, Ardhapadmasana, you need to place your toe below the other thigh. It is comparatively easy to practice till your body gains more flexibility. If you would like to attain classic Padmasana position, your knees need to touch the floor.



Pawanamuktasana

In order to practice Pawanamuktasana, you first need to lie down. Then fold one of your legs from the knees and hold it close to your abdomen with the help of your arms. Try to keep the other leg as straight as possible. Keep it there for 30 seconds and then release. Repeat the same with other leg. Now fold the two legs together and hold them tight at the same position. Maintain it for 30 seconds once again. Offer your body a rest for 120 seconds.

Value of Asanas

Vajrasana ensures relief from digestive problem. In addition, it also averts excess wind formation. Padmasana offers extensive benefit in liver disorder management. Pawanamuktasana helps in relieving excess wind. In addition, it also enhances liver and stomach function, alleviates the symptoms of constipation, etc. While practicing Asanas, you are always advised to practice Pranayama, which helps you in breathing management. It is a truly effective form of yoga for treating ulcers and other stress related disorders.

Few Facts to Consider

Although yoga for ulcers management offers a great range of benefits, it is not at all recommended to solely depend on yoga or yogic practices, if you are diagnosed with severe form of ulcers. In such case, difficulties may arise as a result of severity of the disorder, which demands for immediate attention. If you are experiencing severe ulcers, you are recommended to use yoga only for relieving ulcers' pain syndromes and for implementing yogic relax on the affected area. However, you may seek addition support through yoga exercise while treating the condition by following customary way.
