Be Sure You Have A Yeast Infection
While other vaginal problems can resemble yeast infection symptoms, there are some differences that can help you tell the difference. A bacterial infection will have greyish discharge that has a fishy odour, and over-the-counter medication for a yeast infection will not cure symptoms. Greenish-yellow discharge points to trichomoniasis, a sexually transmitted disease. Vaginitis resembles yeast infection symptoms in that there is burning, itching and redness but the causes are related to irritations from perfumed soaps, douches and bubble baths. Discontinuing use usually eases the symptoms of vaginitis rather quickly.

If you're pregnant, you have even more reason to consult with your doctor before using over-the-counter medication for your yeast infection symptoms, as not all products are recommended or considered safe for pregnant women.
