Many Options Available for your Varicose Vein Removal

In order to get rid of those nasty blue veins that appear on the body, especially on the legs, one will need to undergo varicose vein removal procedures to make the unsightly lines disappear. Some can be removed with rather easy and non-invasive procedures, while others will require surgery to remove them. There are advantages and disadvantages to the various techniques that should be considered before following through with any of them.

Sclerotherapy

Scleotherapy is a process where a solution is injected into the vein which causes the vein to collapse. As time goes by, the collapsed vein will seal so that no more blood can flow through it. This varicose vein removal method is fairly safe, although there can be an allergic reaction to the solution which is injected. After this procedure it is recommended that a tight compression be worn over the area for a few days to quicken the healing process.

Surgical Varicose Vein Removal

If a varicose vein is particularly large, it will require surgery to remove it. When this procedure is used, small cuts are made in the area of the vein where it will be tied off and left in the original location, or cut out and removed. After this type of surgery, compressions are once again required to keep the bruising and swelling to a minimum. Walking around will also promote quicker healing in the patient and is encouraged after this type of varicose vein removal procedure.

Laser Surgery

As the medical world advances so does the technology involved with it, and now you can undergo non-invasive laser surgery for your varicose vein removal. This type of surgery will destroy the vein where the laser passes through. This advantage to this type of surgery is that there is a shorter recovery period, which means that you will be up and about much quicker if you opt for this procedure. However, the disadvantage is that this varicose vein removal surgery is more expensive than the other options available.

There are various types of surgery for varicose vein removal that you can choose from, depending on your needs and comfort as well as your budget. Varicose veins are easily removed, and should be checked out by your doctor if you have them. Your doctor will also be able to answers any questions which you may have on the various procedures available and which one is best for you.
