There Are Many Different Types of Heart Disease

You are concerned about your health, especially since heart disease has affected various members of your family. You try to eat healthy and stay active, but sometimes you just can't resist eating fatty foods. So, you just would like to know why types of heart disease are out there.

About the Types of Heart Disease

There are many different types of heart disease, but the ones that you should be concerned about first of all are the types of heart disease that are prevalent in your family. For example, did your parents have high cholesterol, especially the kind that resulted in a heart attack or stroke?

If they did, you should let your primary care physician know, because that way your physician can run certain tests to make sure you are not developing and certain types of heart disease. The most prevalent type of heart disease is high cholesterol.

Cholesterol is part of your blood chemistry, and it should be noted that there is good cholesterol as well as bad cholesterol. However, once the bad cholesterol overrides the good cholesterol, you start getting heart disease.

One type of heart disease that results from high cholesterol is a stroke. A stroke occurs when the blood that is pumped through the heart is too thick to successfully make it through major veins. The heart pumps blood to all major areas of the body, including the head. When arteries in the head become clogged with plaque, a stroke can thus occur.

Another type of heart disease that can happen because of high cholesterol is clogged arteries that surround the heart. There are a variety of things that can cause this. While eating fatty food is the main culprit, there is also the issue of genetics, and how your blood chemistry changes as they get older.

There are a variety of different signs that you are experiencing the effects of high cholesterol, and are thus in danger of developing heart disease. First of all, you will be experiencing frequent, prolonged chest pain. You will also be experiencing frequent trouble breathing.

If you think that you might be suffering from a certain type of heart disease, you should consider going to your doctor to see if that is what it is, or if it is actually the effects of anxiety. Treatment for the beginning stages of heart disease usually is in the form of medication. Thus, be sure to eat right and be active, so that you can be healthy.
