Factors That Influence Tummy Tuck Results

A Tummy tuck is a procedure that involves surgical removal of abdominal excess fat though this is not something normally recommended for body sculpting. In fact, a plastic surgeon would accept you as a candidate only after she was assured that you had tried enough diet and exercise routines and failed. The reason for this precaution is that though tummy tuck results look great on the right candidate, this is a major surgery and as all invasive surgeries should be avoided if there are suitable alternatives available.

A Brief Overview Of This New Technique

The tummy tuck which is conducted under general anesthesia generally takes about four hours to perform. The plastic surgeon would have drawn a sketch on the skin to roughly mark the area from where the fat and skin would be removed. An incision would be made very close to the pubic area and around the navel to allow the plastic surgeon open the skin like a flap and work on the fat and muscles found underneath.

Once the fat has been removed, the surgeon would focus on muscles which are sewn together to provide a tight and neat look. The skin is then put back to cover the shrunk abdomen and whatever excess is cut away.

Three Factors That Influence Tummy Tuck Results

The tummy tuck results depend upon many critical factors which the plastic surgeon would evaluate before approving the surgery.

The most important factor is your age. Since this surgical procedure involves body sculpting, it is important that both your skin and muscles are elastic enough to pull back into place during the recovery phase. This is possible only when you are below 50 years of age, in most cases.

Another important factor is your physical condition. You need to keep in mind that this is a four hour surgical procedure which is performed under general anesthesia. Therefore, you would be required to be in great physical condition to be eligible for it. Those who suffer from blood pressure, diabetes, and other such disorders would face unnecessary risks.

The expertise and experience of the plastic surgeon is the third critical factor that could influence your tummy tuck results. It is very important that you select a doctor who is well versed with the new technique and has established a good reputation with his clients. An inexperienced surgeon might do more damage than help so be very cautious about whom you choose to perform your surgery.

Any compromise on the above factors would result in poor tummy tuck results.
