Treating Yeast Infections Is Easy And SafeWomen who know the symptoms of a vaginal candida yeast infection, and have had such an infection before, know that Monistat cream or suppositories will effectively treat this yeast infection. Monistat is safe and effective, but it isn't inexpensive. If you use Monistat or a similar product and your symptoms don't improve, you should see your physician. You may have contracted a condition other than a yeast infection that is causing your symptoms such as chlamydia or herpes. Or, you may simply have a severe and stubborn yeast infection that requires a stronger prescription medication. What About Treating Other Types Of Yeast Infections? Again, make sure you know what type of yeast infection you have; you must know its symptoms and treatment. If you have a condition with origins and symptoms that are unfamiliar to you, see your physician and don't try to treat it yourself. Treating yeast infections like candida that occurs in mucous membranes other than the vagina is fairly simple. Conditions like "jock itch" and "athlete's foot" derive from the same candida fungus that causes vaginal yeast infections. Candida thrives and grows in over-abundance in warm, damp environments. Jock itch is a candida infection that you can treat with anti-fungal sprays available in any drug store. Treating athletes' foot is also treated with an anti-fungal over-the-counter-spray; use the spray on your feet, between your toes, and spray it into your shoes. By treating these yeast infections yourself, if your symptoms don't improve in 2-3 days, please see your physician; you may have mis-diagnosed and mis-treated yourself. In treating yeast infections that require medical attention, your physician has several options. Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum anti-fungal medication that's used to treat conditions like candida yeast infections of the skin (ringworm), in the mouth (thrush) and vaginal infections. It's available as a cream, lotion, liquid solution, lozenge, vaginal cream, and vaginal suppository. When using Clotrimazole to treat your yeast infection, you won't notice improvement of you symptoms for about a week. Terazol 3 is a prescription treatment used to treat yeast infections of the vulva and vagina. It's available as a cream or suppository and is used every night for three nights. Terazol 7 is the exact same medication, but is used to treat stubborn yeast infections for seven days. If you experience white lesions on your tongue, lips, and inner walls of your mouth, don't try to treat this condition yourself. Chances are you have "thrush," a candida yeast infection of the mouth that's uncommon and painful; you need a physician to treat this type of yeast infection. Thrush is the most serious of the candida infections and can be difficult to treat. If thrush is untreated, it can expand to major organs in the body and cause serious health conditions. To treat thrush, your physician will most likely prescribe Nystatin, a liquid anti-fungal that is swished in the mouth several times a day. To help with the pain caused by thrush, your physician can also prescribe a liquid lidocaine solution to swish in your mouth to ease the pain of the thrush lesions. |
