Sweating is a natural occurrence of the body to help cool ourselves when we are feeling hot. Another reason for sweating may be a response to stress such as when we are confronted with a public performance or when we are caught off guard and afraid. Sweating during sleeping may be unusual for many because our body is usually at rest during sleep. There are actually many reasons for sweating during sleep and this may not be as uncommon as we think.

Having Night Sweats

Sweating during sleep is a rare occurrence for a lot of people but not for those who experience night sweats almost daily. Common reasons why sweating during sleep may occur are the consumption of certain foods before bedtime, hot environment and exertion before bedtime.

Sweating during sleep can be because of eating spicy foods before bedtime or other foods that may trigger a reaction such as sweat. If you eat foods that are spicy but not hot enough to make you sweat during eating, the sweating many come some time after consumption. This might be while you are already asleep which can cause sweating during sleep because you body is still processing the spicy foods. A hot room or even excessively warm weather may also cause sweating during sleep. When the temperature rises at night or when we are sleeping, our body still tries to control our body temperature by cooling our bodies with sweat. Sweating during sleep in warm weather is perfectly natural for everybody. If you experience excessively warm weather, you might try to open the windows but be careful if you are at the ground floor. Having air-conditioning is another alternative to night sweats due to warm weather.

Exercising a short time before going to bed may also trigger sweating during sleep. This is because our body has yet to cool down from al the exercising and exertion that it has been put through. Our body's natural effort to cool down is to sweat. It is best not to exercise right before bedtime as this will not only have you sweating during sleep but you might also have a difficult time catching sleep.
