Increased Sweating During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a wonderful time peppered with some uncomfortable occurrences. Sweating during pregnancy is a given and there are many women who sweat profusely while they are pregnant. No matter how hard you try to keep cool, there are just times when you really sweat. In fact, pregnant women may feel excessively warm during their pregnancy, especially during the last few months leading to child birth. Sweating is a natural reaction of the body to cool down bodies that have been heated or warmed.

Sweating during pregnancy is something that can be uncomfortable especially for those pregnant women who are fussy and don't wan tot feel stuffy.

Causes For Sweating During Pregnancy

Some causes for sweating during pregnancy can be the increased flow of blood in the skin. This causes the pregnant woman to feel warmer than usual and this will stimulate the sweat glands to cool her down. The elevated flow of blood to the skin along with the increase in the progesterone hormone causes many of the skin's capillaries to be more open, thus making the pregnant woman feel warm or flushed. This contributes greatly to sweating during pregnancy.

Another cause for increased sweating during pregnancy is the occupation of the baby in the mother's womb. Having another living being inside the body can contribute to the mother feeling hot and stuffy especially during the later months. Pregnant women will always sweat more than when they were not pregnant. The sweat glands tend to work several times as much as when she was not pregnant to cool her off. This sometimes causes excessive sweating during pregnancy.

Sweating during pregnancy may be the cause of pregnant woman having leg cramps due to loss of salt when sweating. To make up for loss of necessary elements and substances lost sweating during pregnancy, drink lots of fluids. Juices supplemented with fibers can help you deal with constipation that sometimes come with pregnancy as well as nourish your legs to avoid leg cramps. You might want to replenish you fluids by drinking water with electrolytes and sodium to keep you feeling in tip top shape instead of dehydrated.

Sweating during pregnancy happens to all pregnant women. This is not something that happens to only a few women so there is no need to panic if you notice that you have been excessively sweaty since you were pregnant. Sweating is a good way to cool off your body so it is best to do some minor exercises while you are pregnant.
