Stomach and Back Pain May Not Indicate Serious Disease

Stomach and back pain can be the signs of serious disease or just a temporary condition that goes away after a short rest. There used to be a joke about all doctors prescribe two aspirin, drink liquids and get some rest. These suggestions might be just the prescription for stomach and back pain, but the condition may be much more serious. These symptoms could suggest the presence of a serious disease that will take some time, medicine and money to cure. The patient with good health insurance will surely be better off if this is the case.

Stomach and back pain should not trigger an immediate trip to the doctor or emergency room of the hospital unless it is unbearable and intense. Sometimes stomach and back pain could be the result of added stress on the job or around the home. These symptoms could just be the result of overeating during the holidays or the stress associated with some holidays. This pain might just be present because the holiday meal offered different foods than usual or a great deal of travel. Sitting on an airplane and eating airline food might cause plenty of pain.

Persistent Stomach and Back Pain May Indicate a Serious Disease

Stomach and back pain could be the result of different medications prescribed for other conditions. Some people have allergies to medications, and these allergies might cause pain. Check with your doctor about any medications that might cause undesirable side effects. If possible, you might stop taking the medicine for a few days to see if the pain disappears. Stomach and back pain could mean a more serious condition or two different conditions. A patient might have a stomach condition that is not related in any way to the back pain. Stomach and back pain might be a signal of one condition.

Stomach and back pain could be symptoms of ovarian cancer which is a very serious condition. Lower back pain that might indicate ovarian cancer sometimes starts as slight pain that increases over time. This back pain is accompanied by abdominal pain that is most uncomfortable. These symptoms might appear with others such as vaginal bleeding and a bloated feeling. This is a cancer that can be terminal unless it is diagnosed at very early stages. Any stomach and back pain that lasts more than a few days should be reported to a physician for a series of tests and diagnosis.
