Some Quit Smoking Products Used To Replace Two HabitsIn order for quit smoking products to be successful they have to attack the problem from one of two directions. First is the addiction to nicotine, a drug that is part of the tobacco in cigarettes as well as in smokeless tobacco. Some other quit smoking products are aimed at the physical and mental addictive qualities of smoking, namely the habit of having something in their hands, or smoking before, during or after a specific activity. Early on in the quest to help people quit smoking products were designed to resemble cigarettes. These were made of plastic and designed in the same shape and color of a cigarette and people held them in their hand and even placed them in their lips to replace their real cigarettes. Provided the smoker could get beyond their nicotine habit without help, these quit smoking products may have provided something to do with their hands instead of smoking. Health Benefits Aided By Some Products For many smokers, the addiction to nicotine, a stimulant, is more than just a matter of being able to restore their breathing. Persons suffering from some disorders such as high blood pressure are usually directed to quit smoking to help bring down their blood pressure. Using nicotine replacement therapy may keep their lungs free of smoke, but these quit smoking products still allow them to get a regular fix of nicotine, causing them to lose half the battle with quitting. When trying to quit, using quit smoking products may help many through the initial stages but they will be more successful with a quality quit smoking program in conjunction with the quit smoking products they use. Whether they had a quitting buddy they can call when the urge to smoke gets too much to handle on their own or something as simple as a rubber band on their wrist. By snapping the rubber band and causing a stinging pain on their wrist when the urge to strike hits them, many associate the pain with the desire to smoke, helping them modify that behavior. |
