How Prozac and Insomnia Interacts with Each OtherWhat is Prozac? Prozac is certain type of medicine that is commonly used to treat depression in people. As an anti-depressant, prozac is rather effective and is said to be very good in helping people with anxiety disorders and eating disorders. However, the bad news about prozac is that it can have some serious side effects including insomnia. So many studies have associated prozac and insomnia that we can safely say that the two seem to bound together. Prozac and insomnia are two things that are usually taken in conjunction with caffeine sensitivity. People who react strongly to coffee, chocolates and other food products containing caffeine are the most vulnerable when it comes to reaction to prozac. In most cases, if you are one of those people who could not sleep at night after you have taken a cup of coffee earlier in the day, you could be in serious trouble if you use prozac as an anti-depressant. Most people who reported to suffer from lack of sleep while using prozac are those people who are sensitive to caffeine. Prozac and Insomnia; Cause and Effect Cycle Prozac and insomnia actually have a cause and effect cycle that you should try to avoid. Note insomnia is one of the leading causes for depression in the United States today. If you have been taking prozac to cure your depression you could actually be in more trouble than you already are. Instead of curing your depression, you are actually adding more fuel to it by not being able to sleep well at night. If you cannot sleep well at night, chances are you will be more depressed in the morning. When you take prozac to treat your depression the next day, you can expect that you will have trouble sleeping again during the night. To break the cycle created by Prozac and insomnia, you should ask your doctor to give you another type of medicine to cure your depression. There are other types of anti-depressants that are suited for people who are sensitive to caffeine. Do not insist on using prozac simply because it is proven to be very effective in treating depression in some people. Remember that prozac doesn't sit well with people who are sensitive to caffeine. |
