Every Day Applications Of Physical Medicine Rehabilitation

Believe it or not, every day each one of us apply some form or another of physical medicine rehabilitation to our own self to make sure that our body is either protected or treated from an injury. Physical medicine rehabilitation includes any thing that is applied to the body to help prevent an injury for example if you go jogging in the morning you may come home and stretch this is considered a form of physical medicine rehabilitation. On the other side if you lifted up something at home and felt something tighten up in your back you may apply something cold to the muscle and then later on something warm to handle the swelling and the pain. This type of treatment is considered physical medicine rehabilitation.

Regardless of age, physical medicine rehabilitation is an integrated part of our day to day lives which helps the body function and recover. In most cases our home treatment and prevention using common physical medicine rehabilitation can complete what is needed but in many cases for examples major surgeries, muscle tears or broken bones, some people may require the help of a physical rehabilitation center to work with professionally trained people to recover or prevent further strain but in many cases we can complete physical medicine rehabilitation in the comforts of our home.

Day To Day Application

Warming Up Before Exercise: Many of us wake up nice and early to start a morning run. Before heading out we start by applying physical medicine rehabilitation by stretching out our muscles to ensure they are loose and ready to be strained.

Cooling Down After Exercise: After our long run or walk we come back and make sure we stretch out all of muscles to make sure we work any tight spots out. This is another form of physical medicine rehabilitation. We may also jump in a hot shower to let the heat loosed up the muscles. Application of heat to prevent tightening of muscles is a very common and effective form of physical medicine rehabilitation.

Massage out the knots: After exercise we may have some tight spots here and there and nothing helps loosen the knots then a massage the muscles. This form of physical medicine rehabilitation works as both a treatment and prevention in the future as it helps to stretch and relax the muscles.

Hot and Cold: Cooking in the kitchen and touch something hot? Applying cold to help with the swelling is a very popular every day form of physical medicine rehabilitation. Hot pads are often used to help relax stiff backs, shoulders and necks after a hard day of work.
