These are all incredibly important factors that you will have to consider.
Where to Find a Military Retirement Home
Although there are many to choose from, there is one military retirement home in particular that is of especially excellent service. This is the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH), and is a military retirement home which consists of the U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home (USSAH) in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Naval Home (USNH) in Gulfport, Miss.
Veterans in this military retirement home come from every single state of the union, and from all walks of life, and have served in every war from World War I through to Operation Desert Storm. The average age of the person here is 76, and the largest percentage is made up of WWII veterans.
As for eligibility to this military retirement home, the basic standards are as follows: retirees with 20 or more years of active-duty service who are at least 60 years old; veterans who are unable to earn a livelihood due to a service-connected disability; veterans who are unable to earn a livelihood due to a non-service connected disability, and who served in a war theater, or received hostile fire pay; and members of the women's component of the armed forces prior to 1948.
Residents in this military retirement home are also allowed to live with their spouses here, but only if their spouse is also eligible under the pre-discussed eligibility criteria. The residents must be in at least that of relatively good health when they enter, but as they age then their medical and social living needs are thus met as they should be.
