Menopause And Palpitations Go Together Like Hot Flashes

It is not unusual for women going through menopause to also experience the feeling that their heart is trying to beat through their chest. Menopause and palpitations are known to frequently go together and although the first few times they are experienced can be frightful, usually there is nothing to worry about. In some cases a women suffering menopause and palpitations will also experience hot flashes or a flushed feeling, but it is not evident in all patients.

Whenever a person suffers from an irregular heart beat or suffers arrhythmias they should be evaluated by their primary care provider to rule out any heart problems. When it is learned they are going through menopause and palpitations are present, they may not like the answer but it can provide comfort in knowing that a heart attack is not imminent. In reality is the effects of the system's hard work at trying to successfully ovulate.

During the ovulation process, hormones help the egg make its trip from the ovaries and during the initial stages of menopause the lack of hormones makes the egg ejection more difficult. During the two weeks following a period the hormones are getting the egg ready and then sending it on the trip. If there are not enough hormones present to help it move, the body works harder to get it gone. If done during menopause it can cause menopause and palpitations to seem like they are linked closely together.

Stress Is Another Part Of Equation

Going through menopause can be a stressful time in a woman's life and during menopause and palpitations is a concern, there may some undue stress creeping into the picture that causes the heart to beat irregularly. Hormonal imbalances can also add a physical burden to a person's stress level and by working on ways to control stress it can be easier to deal with menopause and palpitations may cease.

It is well understood that menopause and its hormonal imbalances wreak havoc on numerous systems. What is not clear is how these deficiencies work together to cause the various symptoms of menopause and palpitations are thought to be part of the chain reaction associated with the change of life.

Persons undergoing hormone replacement therapy have reported an end to heart palpitations, suggesting that it is only the lack of hormones during menopause that contribute to the palpitations. However, those not on hormonal therapy during menopause and palpitations occur, many natural products for stress and anxiety can help prevent them from occurring.
