What are Some of the Advantages of a Manual Treadmill?

Price - First of all the manual treadmill is economical. Anyone can afford it - which is great - because this will be one of the most important investments that you will make, especially in regards to exercise equipment as a whole.

Good exercising power - unlike the motorized machines, the manual treadmill needs you to power it. Therefore, it would be your legs walking that would make the belt turn, hence, your walk whether it is fast or not, should be strong enough to get the machine turn the belt and you should manage to stay on the machine. Since this generally requires a good amount of strength, the value of the exercise thus increases manifold. Hence, you get better leg muscles and benefits from the exercise.

Needs almost no maintenance or power - the manual treadmill, since it works manually, does not need any electricity to run which can be great at times, such as if your power shuts off for instance, or simply for the beneficial fact that you do not have to waste energy or supply new batteries every time the old ones wear out.

What are Some Disadvantages of a Manual Treadmill?

When the machine is new, you may find it to be a bit hard to exercise, as it will take some time to be able to loosen it up sufficiently enough that it will be able to roll smoothly when you walk on it. Until that time however, you may notice that your muscles will get sorer quicker.

You cannot automate the exact speed or inclination - since the speed/ inclination of the manual treadmill depends on how fast you walk, adjustment to get the right combination can be quite cumbersome.

As with anything, there are both advantages and disadvantages, and so you should take the proper time and consideration to think about all, in order to be assured that you are making the right final decision. Overall, those who have purchased and who use manual treadmills have generally only positive things to say about them.
