Male Menopause Symptoms Are As Bad As Women

Very few people out there know that even men go through menopause. In case of men, it is called andropause and it occurs at almost the same time as that of women's, i.e. at 40 - 55 years of age. Since the andropause is not fully recognized and even accepted as fact, very few men really know what the male menopause symptoms are, leave alone how to fight against them.

What Are The Male Menopause Symptoms?

The andropause is caused by gradual reduction in the production of the male hormone testosterone as opposed to estrogen in the case of women. When the testosterone levels drop, men find it difficult to function properly sexually, i.e. they are unable to hold an erection for as long as it is required, or sometimes they cannot get an erection. This is one of the scariest and depressing of all the male menopause symptoms for men.

Other symptoms include sudden joint pains that accompany other symptoms of male menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes or sudden panic attacks just as with women when they experience menopause. They also suffer from insomnia, lack of concentration and restlessness.

However, among all these male menopause symptoms the worst for men is the decrease in sexual drive and the problems related to this aspect. In many cases this particular symptom can lead to acute depression that could end in extreme steps such as suicide.

Men also experience weight gain and water retention, though they do not react the same way as women react to weight gain; this is maybe because men continue to look good even if a few pounds are added here and there.

Other male menopause symptoms would include, irritability for no apparent reason, aggressiveness alternated with self-doubt, anxiety attacks on seemingly unimportant matters, skin dryness, stiffness of joints, increased appetite, sudden urges to prove themselves to others, and so on.

Treatment For Andropause

Fortunately there are remedies to take care of all the male menopause symptoms provided these are referred to the doctor at the earliest possible. Almost every symptom can be controlled and even reversed if caught in time. This is why it is very important for men to learn that male menopause exist so they should be prepared to fight it when it descends on them.

Before treatment, awareness is the required input because most of these symptoms are very scary as they are real. Unless the men affected know about andropause, they would never seek medical help rather blame the symptoms on the different crisis real or perceived that exist in their lives.
