Lower Right Back Pain: A Most Common Form Of Back Pain

This is one of the most common forms of back pain and lower right back pain is one of the highest causes of absenteeism from work among adults and is a significant problem that causes great discomfort when performing normal activities. One can experience lower right back pain because of a number of different reasons and being overworked may cause the muscles to be strained beyond acceptable limits and thus result in having pain in the lower back

Stretch Before Exercising

To prevent lower right back pain, it is recommended that a person stretch before exercising and also gently begin a workout routine so that muscles do not get strained and thus lessen the chances of experiencing pain and also not find it difficult to move. Lower right back pain may be a result of other conditions such as obesity, which is a very common cause, because it makes for sudden increase in weight and changes the center of gravity thus putting additional strain on the lower back.

When a person ages, it too may cause lower right back pain since wear and tear makes the discs of cartilage that lies between the vertebrae to wear out and thus degenerates the cartilage. Other painful conditions may include herniated disc which causes a lot of pain and makes moving difficult. Pinched nerves may also result in pain and another common cause is osteoporosis that causes serious pain in the lower back by making the bones in the back become less dense and places the patient at greater risk of developing fractures. With osteoporosis, one may get serious injury such as fractures to the lower right back even by lifting everyday objects.

The root cause of lower right back pain may be poor posture or not lifting properly or even exercising and most often it leads to muscle strains. One can use relatively simple means to provide relief for lower right back pain and the first precaution one needs to take is to stop activities that would place unnecessary weight or strain on the lower right back. One may also apply ice and follow that with heating the sore area so that pain is lessened and sore muscles get to loosen up. Some amount of anti-inflammatory medications would also help provide relief for lower right back pain.

For lower right back pain that does not ease up even after a few weeks, one should consult a doctor and in some instances, surgery may become necessary. It is also to wise to prevent lower right back pain from occurring in the first place and exercising would be useful towards this end as also maintaining a good posture and one should also refrain from smoking and keep a proper body weight so that the chances of experiencing lower right back pain are greatly reduced.
