Life Coach Training Prepares for a Battle with Life



Who can forget Rocky Balboa's training routines in the "Rocky" films? From tossing huge rocks into a container to using a huge slab of hanging meat as a punching bag, to crisscrossing a jump-rope with one hand - Rocky used everyday objects to create the ultimate training session. When you want to do any task, such as life coach training, allows you to master the skills you need.

Life Coaching Is Strictly Business

Life coach training involves helping clients to both discover and reach their personal goals. The coach utilizes several methods to teach the methods for establishing and achieving goals. The foundations of life coaching exist in executive training. Using various forms of counselling, such as mentoring, psychology and sociology, the life coach uses various methods to help clients.

Life coaching originated from three primary sources: Consulting for businesses and the advancing of organizations; training for the development of individuals; and professions such as counselling and psychotherapy. Arguably today's life coach training is rooted in the 1940s-1950s works of the psychologists Abraham Maslow and Carl Rogers. They stressed the importance of the client becoming active in his growth and development.

Two events caused the demand for life coach training to skyrocket. Executives experiencing burnout began searching for assistance in juggling their personal and professional lives. Also, as the baby boomers neared the age of 50-years-old and became the victims of outplacing and downsizing, life coaches helped them to jumpstart their lives. While life coach training remains most widespread in the executive world, it is now attracting increasingly more individuals.



A Focus on Function Rather Than Dysfunction

While psychologists have influenced the focus of life coach training, you should be aware that it differs from therapy. Psychotherapy typically involves one's behavioural or emotional difficulties and disturbing situations. Therapy typically focuses on a client's dysfunction, in order to transport him to normal function.

On the other hand, life coach training works with functional people who want to progress towards a higher level of function. Their objective is to excel and enjoy an exceptional life. Life coaching actually resembles the problem-solving methods that therapists use to treat people with minor psycho-emotional difficulties and stresses.

Nonetheless, life coaches further the process by helping the client to create a life that is resolute. In life coach training, rather than focusing on the negative aspects of a person's psyche, a holistic approach treats the entire person. Instead of highlighting what a person cannot do, it helps the client to learn what he can accomplish. The result is that the person's general mental health and life progress. In life, training can exist in several forms. Life coach training differs in that it trains for life itself.
