3 Excellent Home Remedies for Heartburn Reflux Treatment

Show me a person who suffers from acid reflux and I will show you a person who abuses antacids and heartburn medication. Recent studies show that people who abuse such medication - whether prescribed or OTC (over the counter) - are at risk to develop pneumonia.

The continuous medication inhibits the acid formation in the stomach which provides you the desperately sought relief. While you think you have solved a problem, you are actually jumping from the frying pan into the fire. The low level of acid encourages the growth of germs in the stomach which in turn find their way up to the lungs and you end up with no heartburn and a full blown case of pneumonia.

Use Fruits and Herbs for Heartburn Reflux Treatment

The banana is one of the most popular natural products that can be used by anyone as heartburn reflux treatment. The banana is easily available, inexpensive and is by itself a powerhouse of goodies. Besides being an excellent ingredient for heartburn reflux treatment, the banana also helps alleviating the symptoms of depression, insomnia, hypertension, diarrhea and anemia.

The banana heartburn reflux treatment is simple; just eat one ripe (not overripe) banana half an hour before food or immediately after. When the meal is you dinner, ensure that you finish your banana at least two hours before bedtime. It takes about four hours to complete the digestion process and two hours is just about sufficient time for the stomach to complete the major part so the digestion process would no longer interfere with your sleep.

Another fruit that can be used for heartburn reflux treatment is the orange. Have an orange or orange juice after your meal instead of water. Have your water 20 to30 minutes after you finish your meal.

Among herbs, mint is excellent as a heartburn reflux treatment. Have mint tea every three to hours (cold or hot as you prefer it) until all the symptoms are gone. In case you do not have fresh mint leaves, you could mix two to three drops of mint essence in about 250 ml of water instead of the tea.

If you find yourself a victim of indigestion on a regular basis, you could try this recipe for permanent relief. Take around 10 basil leaves (choose mature leaves, not tender ones) and mix them with about 30 grams of curd (roughly three tablespoons), a pinch of sea salt and a pinch of freshly powdered pepper. Have this mixture four times a day for seven days and you will feel like a completely new person.
