An Important Guide to Good Cholesterol Food



There are two types of cholesterol - good and bad; the bad cholesterol can cause us heart attack by clogging the arteries, while the good cholesterol can reduce our chances to have a heart attack. Therefore, the battle is to increase the good cholesterol and lower or maintain the bad cholesterol at the desired level.

What is Cholesterol?

Cholesterol is basically a sort of wax like substance which necessary for our body to produce cell membrane as well as hormones. The good cholesterol (HDL) should be no less than 40mg/dL and the bad cholesterol (LDL) should not be more than 200mg/dL. Cholesterol is not calculated by your body weight therefore, you can still have high levels of bad cholesterol when you are slim or under weight.

Good Cholesterol Food

Vegetables, fruits, cereals and whole grains are considered good cholesterol food. Foods that do not contain saturated fat, tans fat and cholesterol are also considered good cholesterol food products and can be consumed safely.

Food items that contain cholesterol are: eggs, poultry, milk, cheese and so on; for a full list you can check online where you will also find what kind of diet is right for you in order to lower and maintain your cholesterol level.

 



You cannot stick only to good cholesterol food and therefore you need to follow a diet pattern that will combat and lower your bad cholesterol, for example: for a healthy diet, you will be prescribed eggs, milk and poultry so, you need to determine how much of what you can have in order to maintain a healthy cholesterol level.
