How to Find Free Pregnancy Tests

When a woman wonders if she is pregnant, nothing will give her peace of mind until her questions are answered. Pregnancy tests can be a costly purchase when money is already tight. Fortunately, there are plenty of options when it comes to finding a free pregnancy test. The sooner a pregnancy is confirmed, the more time a woman has to make decisions and plans for her future and the future of her baby.

Clinics all over the United States offer free pregnancy tests to women. Many of the clinics and centers also offer free counseling and resources for a woman who is faced with an unplanned pregnancy. It is generally recommended that a woman waits to come in for her free pregnancy test until the time that her menstrual period would be due, or perhaps a day or two later to ensure the accuracy of the test.

The reason for the wait is due to the hormone that is detected during the test. HCG is released right after an embryo begins implanting into the uterine lining. This hormone, which can be detected through blood or urine tests, multiplies in quantity after it is released. Since implantation generally occurs six to twelve days after ovulation, it is best to wait two or three weeks after ovulation to perform the test.

Other Types of Free Pregnancy Tests

Some websites will offer a free online pregnancy test that a woman can take before making the call to a clinic to confirm the pregnancy through a urine or blood test. The online test includes a series of questions that usually begin with how long monthly cycles usually run and when the date of the last period was.

These tests will include a list of symptoms to check off, such as nausea, fatigue and weight gain or loss. It will question other potential reasons for the symptoms a woman is experiencing, including more stress than usual. It will also ask about birth control methods that might have been used at the time of conception.

While these online free pregnancy tests do not boast an accuracy record, beginning with this series of questioning might give a woman a better idea of whether she would benefit by making an appointment with her doctor or a pregnancy clinic to receive a urine test.

The important thing to remember is to find out as soon as possible whether pregnancy is indeed a reality. The sooner pregnancy is confirmed through the use of a free pregnancy test, the sooner plans can begin for the expectant mother and her baby.
