Fitness and Yoga: Walking Hand In Hand

Yoga's main goal is the cleansing of the mind and body. The fitness aspect was more of an after effect. Fitness and yoga have more in common than some originally would have thought. It is like an ice cream cone and sticky hands; you cannot have one without feeling the other. What are some of the fitness benefits from yoga?

1) strengthen muscle tone

2) increase in energy levels

3) increased flexibility

4) more endurance

5) weight loss

And this is only a few benefits to be found. Yoga teaches you how to relax. Funny, as that may sounds, the majority of people do not know how to relax. Their mind is constantly swirling with worries, concerns, and frustrations. Basically, you need to take a chill pill. As you stretch and meditate, both mental and bodily toxins begin to lose their grip. Your doctor would gladly agree you need some kind of fitness program, and yoga certainly fits that bill.

The Sporty Look of Yoga

Runners have begun to embrace yoga as a way to rid themselves of the usual aches and pain that go along with running; muscle cramps, chin splints, sore knees, and even fatigue. What they found was a whole lot more. Those who made fitness and yoga a part of their fitness schedule saw an increase in agility, endurance, lung capacity, and more energy.

Injured athletes have incorporated some yoga techniques into their rehabilitation regimen, with better than expected results. Yoga is especially helpful for pulled muscles. What about weight loss? Can you lose weight without spending hours a week on a treadmill or elliptical machine? Yes! It is a little more indirect that joining a gym, but the results are the same, if not better.

Because you are not only learning structure in your physical body, you are addressing the emotional problems like depression that can so easily hamper you in your drive be to more fit. Willpower is another essential key in weight loss success. The fitness and yoga results you will get from yoga will give your will that extra power boost.

If you want to be a part of a class, hop online or dive right into the yellow pages to find a class near you. You can also check with your local fitness centers. If a class setting is not quite your cup of tea, many qualified yoga instructors have produced a myriad of instructional videos.
