There Is No Doubting The Fact That Fast Food Causes Obesity

With its high caloric density, fast food does cause obesity and, before you know it, you will have overeaten and put on weight. Fast food may be compared with a bowl of nuts, which has a lot more energy than you may be aware of, which leaves your appetite active even after the stomach has become physically full. In the end, you really have no idea how many calories you have actually consumed.

Temptation Is Too Great

In a similar vein, fast food restaurants are tempting people to consume more calories than they intended, and the high density of junk food that contains a high degree of calories with respect to its weight causes the appetite control system in the brain to become confused since it bases its responses on the size of the portion rather than the energy content. There is thus a strong case that fast food causes obesity.

It has also been observed that those who consume fast food twice a week or more will put on ten pounds of weight or more within at least a year and they are also twice as likely to develop insulin resistance that is directly linked with diabetes. What more needs to be said regarding fast food causing obesity? Furthermore, there have been countless studies that prove that fast foods are of poor nutritional value. To make matters worse, fast food outlets have increased the portions and so compounded the already high caloric content of such foods.

Perhaps to save face, some fast food chains are beginning to serve up healthier foods such as salads, fruits, as well as bottled water, rather than sodas. However, this seems to be a rather weak response, even though it is a step in the right direction. But, it does show that even the fast food chains acknowledge that fast food causes obesity.

Such is the danger faced by fast food consumers that even eating fast food twice a week or more causes an extra ten pounds of weight added to the body. It is indeed clinching evidence that fast food causes obesity. And, this sorry and sad state of affairs does not seem to be letting up, with schools and hospitals also serving fast food.

Because fast food causes obesity, it should be well worth saving the time spent in visiting the fast food outlet and, instead, take time to practice healthy lifestyle changes and munch on a carrot instead of gorging on candy, and opt for juices instead of a can of Coke.
