Hand In Hand? Dieting And Breast Feeding

Dieting and breast feeding can seem like they should never go together, especially if you are trying to diet while breast feeding. Often, the simple act of breast feeding can lead you to eat ravenously as if you haven't eaten in days. Breast feeding can use up so many of your body's calories that your body will demand that you eat to replace the spent calories. If you are dieting and breast feeding, or at least trying to diet, it can seem like a hard struggle to get back down to at least your pre-pregnancy weight.

Mission Impossible? Dieting And Breast Feeding

Many women state during their pregnancy that they will be breast feeding and will therefore lose their pregnancy weight within a few months. Those opinions will probably be somewhat different within a few months of the birth. Dieting and breast feeding at the same time can be done, but you have to pay attention to your body's needs and act accordingly. Contrary to what many people believe, just because you are breast feeding does not mean that you are going to shed weight everyday.

Eating a diet of lower fat foods and fewer empty calories overall can help immensely. There are certain foods your body will need during dieting and breast feeding, so make sure you consult your doctor to determine the best plan of attack for your situation. Also, you will want to drink copious amounts of water. You will probably feel like you are drowning everyday, but the water can help you lose weight in the long run.

The simple act of walking around the block everyday or every other day can help with your dieting and breast feeding goals. Even if you did not have any complications during your pregnancy or delivery, you will probably want to consult your doctor before you jump into any kind of exercise program. Getting up and moving can seem really difficult some days, but it really can help you meet your dieting and breast feeding goals.

Dieting and breast feeding can go hand in hand, if you do it right. Just because you are breast feeding does not mean the weight will drop off of you quickly. Unfortunately it just doesn't work quite as easily as that. As with any type of dieting, you will probably have to make some sacrifices and get up and move before you lose all of the weight you want to.
