We Need To Reverse The Trend Of Alarming Diabetes Statistics That Are Hitting Us Today

It may come as a big surprise to learn that if we go by available diabetes statistics, there are very many people that are totally ignorant about the condition, though one possible reason for this would be the relative absence of distinct as well as obvious symptoms when the condition first develops. In addition, our modern way of life and the many changes that have occurred in our eating habits have also played important roles in causing more people becoming diabetic.

No Community Is Safe

Today, if we were to go be available diabetes statistics, it seems that there is no community that is safe from diabetes and for the betterment of public health, it is necessary to constantly keep vigilance against the disease. In fact, it is even necessary to have a blood test in order to determine whether you have diabetes or not, and such tests may also need to be taken more than once in a year.

However, it may be very hazardous to depend solely on diabetes statistics to judge the seriousness of the situation since there is as yet no universal program to detect its incidence. In addition, it is common knowledge that many people today are not getting proper health care and even facilities are in short supply and they may also not have insurance cover either. Thus, a lack of having regular checkups will push up the rates of new diabetics and because people today are more than likely leading sedentary lifestyles and consuming too much of sugar as well as fats and even processed foods, they will be more liable to developing diabetes and thus would increase the numbers shown in various diabetes statistics.

There is thus a pressing need for us as a community and for society as a whole to try and become more aware of what diabetes is and thereby does something concrete by which to reverse the alarming trend shown to us by available diabetes statistics. There is need to educate the poor and illiterate and to promote better eating habits and to also inculcate proper lifestyle habits, especially in urban areas, and thus have a chance of bringing down the incidence of new diabetes cases.

What it basically boils down to is that it is amply clear after viewing current diabetes statistics that there is no time to be lost in the fight to bring the rising numbers of diabetes under control and to halt the general progression of diabetes amongst populations all across the world. Each day that passes without something being done is seeing swelling of numbers of diabetes and thus diabetes statistics are throwing up a darker scenario each year, which does not bode well for the future.
