Finding the Cure for Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic lifelong condition, one that affects millions of people around the world. It is a disorder that affects the way your body uses food for energy. With diabetes the glucose that normally gets sent out to the cells in your body end up staying and building up in the blood instead, thereby raising your blood sugar levels.

This can cause serious detriment to the body, including making the organ systems fail. There are two main types of diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes. There is also gestational diabetes which occurs in pregnant women.

Cure for Diabetes

Although there is not yet a cure for diabetes, there have definitely been many breakthroughs and the cure for diabetes is sure to come about in the very near future. There are quite a few different treatments available for diabetes, the most common being daily injections of insulin. This can be done using pens or pumps, and there is also a new type of insulin, Lispro, which can be used to replace regular insulin.

For a long time insulin was considered as being the closest thing to a cure for diabetes. There are now newer, more effective methods available however, which are now known as being the best thing next to a cure for diabetes.

The treatment that you should go with will depend on a few factors. Your age, overall health, medical history, the type of diabetes you have, extent of the disease, your tolerance for medications and therapies, and your opinion and preference of course. All of these are going to play a major role in the determining of which treatment is going to work best for you.

There may not be a cure for diabetes yet, but if you are a sufferer of the disease or know someone who is, you certainly should not let this get you down. After all there are various different associations and organizations today that perform diabetes research and promote awareness on the disease.

If this continues, a cure is sure to be found sometime in the near future, and this is definitely welcoming news to all diabetes sufferers and their friends and families. If you do have diabetes, it is important to remember to work together with your doctor not only to find the best treatment for your condition but also so that they can keep an eye on your condition and make sure it is improving.
