Chemical Peels And Microdermabrasion Are Skin Rejuvenators

Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are both treatments for the skin that renew the appearance of the skin. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are applied by many people to restore the youthful appearance of the skin. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion have the same goal, but the methods used in chemical peels and microdermabrasion are somewhat different. Neither of these procedures reverses or stops the aging process of the skin, but chemical peels and microdermabrasion are two procedures that both remove the outer layers of the skin. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion use solutions to remove these layers of the skin.

Chemical peels and microdermabrasion remove layers of the skin so the skin regenerates those layers. The outer layers are often the place where some scars can be removed to improve the appearance of the site of the scar. These procedures also remove the outer layers that have been damaged by the sun. Many people have extensive damage from exposure the sun, and these people are good candidates for chemical peels and microdermabrasion. These procedures are usually performed by medical doctors or highly trained beauticians in the doctor's office or a salon. Some of these treatments are also available in kits that individuals can use at home.

Chemical Peels And Microdermabrasion Restore Youthful Appearance

Microdermabrasion removes the outer layer of the skin so it does not go as deep into the layers of the skin as a chemical peel. This is the better choice for a person who has certain conditions that might not be receptive to a chemical peel with good results. This procedure uses aluminum oxide crystals as an abrasive that removes this top layer of the skin. This procedure encourages the growth of a new, fresh layer of the skin which will not have the discolorations like the layer that was removed. This procedure also cleans out the pores of the skin for a brighter complexion.

A chemical peel removes layers of the skin with phenol, alphahydroxy acids and trichloroacetic acid. These chemicals are used at the discretion of the person providing the treatment. These chemicals might be used in different amounts based on the judgment of the person in charge of the procedure. Some plastic surgeons use this procedure when they perform a facelift. This procedure may remove some cells that might develop later into cancer of the skin. A chemical peel may also be used to remove acne. Both of these procedures have become very popular because of the positive results.
