Cellulite Reduction Treatment: The 411

Many Americans, especially women, worry about their body image. Cellulite is something that plagues those who struggle to keep up with the typical Hollywood body type. Contrary to what many believe, cellulite does not attack only those who have excess weight. Those who have visible cellulite will try anything to get rid of it, including creams and body wraps, massage, liposuction, and electrotherapy.

Creams and Body Wraps Cellulite Reduction Treatment

One of the most commonly used and accepted treatment for cellulite is the traditional cellulite cream. These creams can often be brought in as part of a body wrap. The three most powerful ingredients in gels and creams are xanthines, retinoids, and alpha hydroxy acids. Xanthines are thought to penetrate and encourage fat metabolism. Retinoids improves circulation to the skins surface while alpha hydroxy facilitates the shedding of dead skin. Each of these items has an impact on cellulite reduction treatment.

Massage Cellulite Reduction Treatment

While the effect of massage on cellulite has not been proven, there are many benefits of massage that may improve the appearance of cellulite and may act as a cellulite reduction treatment. Massage improves circulation and is thought to allow for more drainage of the lymphatic system. It also increases the blood flow to the surface of the skin. This process can soften skin and make it appear smoother.

Liposuction Cellulite Reduction Treatment

Many slim-body seekers think of liposuction as the way to put an end to the fat fight. What many people don't know is that liposuction is not as effective against cellulite as it is at removing other types of fast. Because it is difficult to use liposuction in those areas that cellulite is commonly found, liposuction can actually leave skin looking more dimpled.

Electrotherapy Cellulite Reduction Treatment

Another alternative to wraps, massages and liposuction is electrotherapy. Electrotherapy is administered toward electrical muscle stimulators, or EMS devices. While the FDA has not promoted the use of EMS devices for cellulite reduction treatment, health spas still incorporate them in their everyday routines. The idea behind the treatment is that it vibrates the fat on a level that breaks it down into smaller cells that can be eliminated from the body.

Conclusion

Regardless of the desire you have to get rid of your cellulite, the best methods are perhaps diet, exercise and drinking plenty of water. The FDA has not approved several of the suggested methods above for cellulite removal.
