Cellulite Laser Treatment 101: How Does It Work?

The words cottage cheese and orange peel are often to describe the dimply skin that shows up on the stomach, hips, and thighs of victims across the country. Though it is often thought to relate, cellulite is not directly related to a person's weight or size. In addition to creams, wraps, liposuction, massage and other cellulite treatments, cellulite laser treatments provide other options to those wanting to remedy cellulite. Three types of laser treatments available to consumers are laser toning, VelaSmooth treatments, and Tri-Active treatments.

Laser Toning Cellulite Laser Treatment

Laser toning is a device that is often used to combat wrinkles, but has been applied as a cellulite laser treatment as cellulite often has similar ripples to that of wrinkles. In this procedure, both radio waves and the energy from laser light are directed beneath the surface of the skin. The procedure invokes a wound response that encourages collagen production and skin tightening. Though this may work on cellulite, this procedure is still mainly used on wrinkles.

VelaSmooth Cellulite Laser Treatment

Like laser toning, VelaSmooth is another cellulite laser treatment available to people who wish to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The device is handheld and uses infrared light, radio frequency and suction. The light and waves softens fat and suction elongates the strands that are fibrous and cause the dimpling appearance of cellulite. In addition, these are used to stimulate cell metabolism and encourage the breaking down of fat. There is also a kneading affect that promotes drainage of the lymphatic system. The process takes many sessions, eight sessions or more.

Tri-Active Cellulite Laser Treatment

A Tri-Active cellulite laser treatment actually applies three different treatments that can also be used separately. First, lasers are used to increase circulation and the breaking down of fat cells. Then, a cooling system in the form of a cooling head reduces swelling and burning. Finally, the massage facilitates the draining of the lymphatic system. The experience has been noted to range from a light massage to a deep-tissue massage. This system has been FDA approved to reduce cellulite appearance temporarily.

Conclusion

While these treatments have either secured FDA approval or are in the process of obtaining FDA approval, it is still important to know what other options are available. In addition to those sited in the first paragraph, it is also imperative that you know the importance of exercise, diet and plenty of water in the fight against cellulite.
