Possible Botox Risks

If you are interested in having botox done, to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles off your face, you are first going to have to learn about the possible botox risks, so that you are educated and aware and will not be surprised or freaked out if you experience any of them yourself.

Although severe botox risks are very rare they are possible and therefore need to be discussed between you and your doctor before the doctor is going to be willing to go ahead with the procedure. You will also be given documents to sign stating that you are aware of these risks and that you are still willing to go ahead with the procedure.

Common Risks

There are a few botox risks that are more likely than others to happen, and which are therefore most important for you to be aware of. If too much botox is injected into the wrong area, for instance, drooping of the eyelid muscles can occur for one, which can actually end up lasting for up to several weeks.

The biggest problem with this particular risk is that rather than looking younger as was your goal and the purpose for you getting the botox, you will actually end up looking older during the time your eyelids are drooping.

There have also been allergic reactions to botox and so you will want to be aware of this because there is the possibility of you experiencing these types of botox risks as well. There are certain people who should not have botox, including pregnant or nursing women and people who are taking antibiotics, heart medications and other medicines.

If you are on any type of medication you will need to talk to your doctor to find out whether you are able to go through with botox or not.

There are a few particularly common risks and side effects of botox which includes headache, respiratory problems, infection, nausea, flu syndrome, facial pain, muscle weakness, and redness or soreness at the site of injection.

As long as you are aware of the botox risks - and do not let them freak you out to the point of making you not go through with the treatment - then you can feel confident and comfortable going through with the procedure and if you do experience any of these side effects you will know to expect them and will not have to worry thinking that something is seriously wrong. If they persist for an extended period of time on the other hand, you will want to get in to see your doctor to make sure that nothing is wrong.
