The Cause of Bipolar Disease

The bipolar disease or bipolar disorder is a condition wherein a person experiences extreme highs and lows of emotions. Some people can not fathom the intensity of the bipolar sufferers' feelings because these are triggered by a person's brain and can not be managed or controlled at will. Medication is needed to properly treat this disorder and to manage it and live a normal life.

The bipolar disease usually surfaces when a person with the right factors step on the stage to early adulthood or late teens. Most people who have the bipolar disease are unaware that they have it so family and friends need to be vigilant regarding this. Some misunderstanding may be made regarding a teenager who is depressed or sad and a teenager with the symptoms of the bipolar disease. This is the reason why some teenagers, especially the ones with mild bipolar disorder are just misdiagnosed as temperamental teens and full of angst.

Cause of Bipolar Disease

Researchers have found in their studies that the bipolar disease is often brought to a person by means of their genes. It is our unique genetic make up that makes us have a chance of being bipolar. Researchers have already understood that the disease is in the genes of a person. It is not just a single gene which can be isolate but several genes that come together to create or develop bipolar disease in a person.

What they have yet to discover is what factors trigger this in an individual. Some siblings with the same possibilities of developing bipolar disease may not all develop this. This is baffling to researchers who have studied the bipolar disease for some time.

Research and studies have also shown that bipolar disease may worsen over time. Without the proper treatment, the people with bipolar disease will experience more and more manic or depressive episodes as they grow older. Treatment is almost always with drugs and some sort of medication that needs to be given regularly to manage and control the individuals brain and emotions.

Bipolar disease is quite common the United States of America and is often overlooked due to misunderstanding and misdiagnosis of the disorder. The symptoms of the bipolar disorder may also fit several other symptoms of other sickness and disorders. This is what makes it difficult because this disorder can not be diagnose using blood samples or taking DNA samples, instead, individuals need to be interviewed and have their behavior reviewed by specialist who can diagnose the bipolar disorder.
