The Best Way To Quit Smoking Is Different For Everyone



Whether it is due to health concerns or simply to make it easier to comply with all of the new no smoking laws being passed, many of those addicted to the nicotine in cigarettes are trying to find the best way to quit smoking that gives them the least amount of pain from withdrawal. With so many different methods being used to stop smoking, it can be trial and error for many people before they find the best way to quit smoking that works for them.

Regardless of the method chosen, the best way to quit smoking will also include behavior modification. Essentially, nearly all smokers have certain habits they fall into that are related to their smoking habits. For instance, many people wake up the morning, craving that first cigarette and light one up to go with their first cup of coffee of the day. When finding the best way to quit smoking they will have better success by giving up that first cup of coffee as well. This change in behavior gives them a better chance to end the smoking habit.

If the smoker has not been an advocate of exercise, they may want to incorporate an exercise program with their efforts to quit smoking. It has been shown that the best way to quit smoking is to participate in activities during which smoking is not possible or permitted.

 



Ending Habit Can Be Painful Process

It is now understood that the nicotine in cigarettes and smokeless tobacco is addicting and that there really is no easy way to quit smoking. Just like ending an addiction to other drugs, persons who stop smoking will undergo a period of withdrawal from nicotine. While it takes about three days for the nicotine to be cleared from the body, the habit of smoking may take considerably more time. Unfortunately, the best way to quit smoking for one person may not have the same affect on another.

When a person has tried a stop smoking method and successfully ended their habit, they will tout it as the best way to quit smoking. However, while it may work on others, it may not work on everyone. Hypnosis, medication and even laser treatments are being advertised as the best way to quit smoking, but unless it works for 100-percent of the programs participants, it may be good, but not perfect. Those with a true desire to quit will keep trying, no matted how many of the methods they try until they find the best way to quit smoking for them.
